Inside Your Mind Is One Of A Kind
The experience inside your mind is unlike any other.
It’s pretty wild to think that you are one of a kind having a one of a kind view of everything that may or may not be happening. You are limited to your knowledge, of all things you have witnessed and learned, and you interpret everything that comes at you based on those confines.
You want to believe yourself. That is a survival tactic. You have to be your own best friend because in the end that might be the only thing you have. It might sound selfish but you have to do all for yourself first if you want to be of any help to anyone else. It is the whole “put your mask on first” when you get the oxygen talk on an airplane.
The mind is a beautiful place where things like love, friendship, lust, betrayal, heartbreak, reward, excitement, compassion, anger, disappointment, panic, terror, happiness, trust, and forgiveness can take place. Some emotions you choose to put out and others you cannot stop. But it all happens inside your mind. And as you are one person riding this wave you never really know how anyone else is viewing it. You think you can make a pretty decent guess most of the time but you are usually stumbling around in the dark without a flashlight.
The ability to perceive what others are thinking and feeling has to be one of the most important gifts in the world. One day we will all just get it and there will be no more questions. It seems like a good thing and a bad thing. How often do you think something and smile to yourself that no one else could hear that thought? How many times do you wish that a person could feel what you are feeling so that they might change their ways once they understood how bad they were hurting you? How many time do you send an instagram video to someone, with the pure intent of connecting, and they don’t grasp why that dude getting kicked in the nuts is funny?
It’s a wild world. There are an unbelievable amount of people. It feels like we are just spinning faster and faster into something that will fly off the rails. I wonder if our inability to understand each other is the main culprit. I wonder if it could get better. I wonder why it is so challenging to find common ground with so many people. I wonder there are so many varying levels of intelligence and how being smart doesn’t necessarily make you right.
I think most people just want something simple. Most people don’t want anything dramatic. They want a regular house, regular life, regular job, regular vacation to the beach, regular high school football game on a friday night. Nothing crazy. Nothing real extreme. The known feels comfortable and people like comfort.
But what do I know? I’m just me. Maybe it’s different being you. Maybe we will all get on the same page someday. Until then - gotta keep on keepin on. Lifes a garden. Dig it. - Joe Dirt
