Venice is difficult to explain until you actually walk through it.
There are no cars in the historic center. Instead, you move through narrow streets, over bridges, along canals, and occasionally reach a corner where the whole city suddenly opens up in front of you.
This short video is an early Maxwell’s Kitchen travel episode from a trip to Venice, Italy. There is no narration or full itinerary here. It is simply a quick visual look at the city, including the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge, and some of the streets and waterways around Venice.
If you are trying to decide whether Venice is somewhere you want to visit, think of this one as a two-minute preview rather than a travel guide.
For actual trip planning, these newer Italy guides go much deeper:

About This Episode
This video was filmed during a 2022 trip to Venice and comes from the early days of the Maxwell’s Kitchen travel series. Later episodes became much more detailed, with narration, routes, logistics, costs, and honest destination judgments. This one is intentionally simpler: a short look at Venice as I experienced it walking through the city.
