Pop Culture Trivia Drinking Game: Round 2 | Sketchy Scott & Jabroni

Some trivia games are carefully structured.

This is not that.

In this episode of Maxwell’s Kitchen, Sketchy Scott and Jabroni are back for Round 2 of the Pop Culture Trivia Game. There are categories, points, buzzers, drinks, and a championship belt situation that may or may not have any real authority.

The categories include Dead or Alive, Cartoon Characters, Lines from Movies, U.S. Presidents, Baywatch, Russell Crowe, DeLorean, and old cigarette ads.

So yes, it is educational.

Just not in a way that will help anyone get into college.

About This Episode

This is Round 2 of the Maxwell’s Kitchen Pop Culture Trivia Game.

The contestants are using fake names, which feels correct for an episode where people are drinking, guessing movie quotes, discussing old nicknames, and trying to remember basic American presidential facts with the confidence of men who probably should not be trusted with a buzzer.

Sketchy Scott and Jabroni go through a bunch of pop culture categories, and the game immediately becomes less about trivia and more about whatever nonsense each question unlocks.

That is the point.

A question about Betty White turns into Golden Girls drag events.

A question about U.S. Presidents turns into Grubhub and Taco Bell.

Baywatch becomes a serious athletic and legal institution.

Steven Seagal gets researched in real time.

Very rigorous.

The Categories

The game starts with Dead or Alive, which is exactly what it sounds like. The players have to guess whether different celebrities are dead or alive.

Simple concept.

Still somehow dangerous.

Then it moves into Cartoon Characters, which includes Rugrats, King of the Hill, Looney Tunes, Frozen, and Powerpuff Girls. A normal person might assume grown men would struggle with some of this.

A normal person would be correct.

There are also multiple rounds of Lines from Movies, including Fight Club, No Country for Old Men, Anchorman, The Wolf of Wall Street, There Will Be Blood, The Help, Dazed and Confused, and Borat.

Some answers arrive quickly.

Some answers arrive with the confidence of a man falling down stairs.

U.S. Presidents, Baywatch, and Other Serious Topics

The U.S. Presidents category gets into William Henry Harrison, Andrew Jackson, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and the minimum age required to become president.

This is probably the closest the episode gets to civic education.

Unfortunately, it is surrounded by conversations about Taco Bell, childhood nicknames, old internet rumors, and whether Steven Seagal was actually a cop.

Then comes Baywatch.

David Hasselhoff. Pamela Anderson. Jason Momoa. Weight clauses. Baywatch Hawaii.

Important American history.

The Final Round

The final round includes three categories:

Russell Crowe

DeLorean

Cigarettes

The final question is worth enough points to flip the whole game, because apparently we learned nothing from the first round.

That is how you end up with a championship being decided by the last cigarette advertised on television.

Which is absurd.

And also pretty good trivia.
