24 Hours in Capri, Italy: Ferry from Naples, Capri Town + Marina Grande
Ferry from Naples, Marina Grande, the funicular, Piazza Umberto, and one of the most beautiful day trips you can do in southern Italy.
Capri does not feel real. It feels like somebody built a luxury dream sequence in the middle of the sea and then let tourists loose on it.
This is the fast version: how to get there, how to get around, where to eat, and what is actually worth your time if you only have one day.
Is One Day in Capri Enough?
One day in Capri is enough to see the postcard version of the island, but not enough to see it slowly.
If you are coming from Naples, the day is mostly about logistics: ferry to Marina Grande, get up to Capri Town, wander the streets, eat something, stare at the views, and get back to the ferry without pretending time is not real.
Capri is beautiful, expensive, crowded, and still somehow worth it. Annoying combination. Very effective island.
The One-Day Itinerary
Ferry from Naples to Capri.
Arrive in Marina Grande and stash your bag if needed.
Take the funicular, or walk, up to Capri Town.
Explore Piazza Umberto and the streets around it.
Stop for lunch at Longano.
Wander the island and take in the views.
Ferry back to Naples.
Take the Alibus shuttle to the Naples Airport area if you have an early flight.
Crash at BenBo / Bed & Boarding if airport sleep logistics are part of your glamorous travel brand.
Getting There
The easiest way to visit Capri for one day is by ferry or hydrofoil from Naples. Most routes arrive at Marina Grande, which is the main port on Capri and the place where your day starts.
For a short visit, check ferry times before you build the rest of the plan. Capri is not the place to freestyle your return transportation and hope the sea respects your schedule.

Getting Around Capri
Once you arrive in Marina Grande, the main decision is how to get up to Capri Town.
The funicular is the easiest option and connects Marina Grande with the Piazzetta area in Capri Town. You can also walk, which gives you a better feel for the island but also reminds you that hills are real and Capri does not care about your luggage.
For one day, keep it simple. Get up to Capri Town, explore on foot, and avoid building an itinerary that depends on perfect bus timing, perfect weather, and a version of yourself who is somehow not tired.
What to See in One Day
Start with Marina Grande, then make your way up to Capri Town and Piazza Umberto.
The best part of Capri is not necessarily one single attraction. It is the whole ridiculous mix: the views, the cliffs, the tiny streets, the luxury shops, the crowds, the sea, and the feeling that everyone else also had the exact same idea.
If you only have one day, do not try to see the entire island. Capri is better when you give yourself time to wander, look around, and occasionally wonder how much money everyone else has.
Stay Here
BenBo / Bed & Boarding, Naples Airport
This is not a Capri hotel. It is the airport sleep option featured in the episode.
If you have an early flight out of Naples, staying near the airport can be the least romantic and most practical decision of the whole trip. Sometimes travel planning is not about magic. Sometimes it is about not trusting a 4:30 a.m. taxi plan with your entire soul.
Food + Drinks
Longano Ristorante Pizzeria, Capri
Longano was the food stop featured in the episode. It is in Capri Town, which makes it useful if you are doing the simple Marina Grande to Capri Town version of the day.

Quick Tips
Book or check ferry times before you commit to the day.
Capri gets insanely crowded in summer, so expect the island to be beautiful and annoying at the same time.
If you have a bag, stash it near Marina Grande instead of dragging your tiny rolling punishment up the hill.
The funicular is the easiest way up to Capri Town, but walking gives you a much better feel for the island.
If you have an early Naples flight, sleeping near the airport is way less stressful than gambling on a very early taxi plan.

About This Episode
This episode is part of the Maxwell’s Kitchen Euro Trip series, where I visit cities and islands quickly to figure out which places are worth your time, money, and effort.
Capri is not the cheapest or calmest day trip from Naples, but it is famous for a reason. One day is enough to understand the appeal, even if the island spends most of that day reminding you that everyone else wanted to understand it too.
